THE COST OF GETTING IT WRONG

Managing an investment property yourself might seem straightforward — until you realise just how much responsibility sits behind the scenes.

A recent case highlighted by REIWA is a timely reminder.

A private landlord in WA has been fined $3,300 and ordered to pay $2,606 in costs after failing to lodge a tenant’s $2,200 bond with the Bond Administrator within the required 14 days.

More than 900 days later, the bond still hadn’t been lodged.

And this is exactly why professional property management is about so much more than collecting rent and organising repairs.

WA’s tenancy legislation continues to evolve, with changes covering everything from rent increases and pets to minor modifications and tenancy processes — with further reforms expected over the next 12 months.

For a property owner, staying across those changes is your responsibility if you self-manage.

For a professional property manager, it’s part of the job.

At Kevin Green Real Estate, our Property Management team brings together local knowledge, established systems, ongoing professional development and a strong understanding of WA tenancy requirements — helping protect both our landlords and their tenants.

Because when it comes to your investment, compliance isn’t an optional extra. It’s part of protecting your property future.
